Reflection
This week, I have been reflecting on the quiet notes in life, truly taking the time to pay attention to my thoughts and habits, why I do what I do and what influences throughout my journeys shaped the way I act and think.
I started to understand how influential figures in your life shape future behaviors, and it’s truly eye-opening. The people we grow up around—parents, teachers, mentors, or even close friends—play a significant role in shaping our beliefs, habits, and decision-making patterns.
Their actions, advice, and even their outlook on life can leave lasting impressions on who we become.
This influence often occurs subtly, through everyday interactions or behaviors we observe and unconsciously mimic. Over time, these small influences can mold our perspectives and guide how we face challenges, build relationships, or pursue goals
The Impact of How We Allow Ourselves to Be Treated
The way I let people treat me was viewed as acceptable, but in hindsight, it wasn’t.
I usually was always the person in the group/family that did not like the boat rocked, I always was a people pleaser,
rarely spoke my mind and never wanted fighting or yelling.
I was always avoiding confrontation. I was always working on keeping the peace, sometimes at my own expense.
I was always wanting people to like me and I was always chasing after people for attention and if you did't like me I took it very personal.
What we do and say or don't say Matters.
Reflecting on this, I realize that the standards we set for how others treat us don’t just affect our well-being—they also serve as a model for those who look up to us.
Children, especially, are observant and often mirror what they see. When we tolerate disrespect or mistreatment, we unintentionally normalize that behavior for them.
It’s crucial to recognize this and take steps to model self-respect and healthy boundaries.
By doing so, we not only improve our own lives but also teach the next generation the importance
of valuing themselves and fostering relationships built on mutual respect.
